The name Peipah has been used to name three tropical cyclones in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. It replaced the name Vamei after it was retired in the spring of 2002 due to its impact on Malaysia and Singapore. The name Vamei (畫眉; Jyutping: waa6 mei4*2) refers to the Chinese hwamei. The name Peipah (琵琶; Jyutping: pei4 paa4) was submitted by Macau and refers to the anglerfish.
